I would like to know why I am going to buy Dawn of Mana on day 1. I have heard nothing good about the game, but I've got it preordered anyway. Damn you, SE!
Geoff Gibson @ Apr 19th 2007 12:41PM
There is only one exclusive PS3 title in that list. And I am not even 100% sure its exclusive.
Come on Sony give the PS3 owners some games already, not just ports from the 360. I already own all those...
Jason @ Apr 19th 2007 12:42PM
Phil might say "Behold these AAA exclusives which can only be found on the... what? damn...Xbox 360 as well? And they're getting Mass Effect and Forza 2? How am I supposed to sell these goddamn things?!"
copa @ Apr 19th 2007 12:42PM
Yikes, that is a really gruesome PS3 release schedule. At this stage of the lifecycle, the Wii is releasing Paper Mario, while the 360 was premiering GRAW and Oblivion.
This is just not going to fly at $600.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 12:48PM
PS3
F.E.A.R. (also available on 360 and PC)
Spider-Man 3 (xbox360, wii gets exclusive version)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (okay I'll give that to you)
MLB 07 The Show (yay... baseball?)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (every platform, movie game)
The Darkness (xbox 360 as well)
The Bigs (every console, baseball... again..)
TRANSFORMERS: The Game (movie game, every console)
Wow, let me run to the store and buy a PS3 right now! Seriously, Sony execs must have gigantoid ball sacks to say this list is what PS3 owners have to look forward to. Ninja Gaiden and MLB 07 The show are the only exclusives on that list. Every good exclusive they had is going multiplatform... yeah... this console is DOOMED. I'm not a fanboy, it's a fact. There's no reason to buy a PS3. I have a Wii and I definitely want to compliment it with either a 360 or PS3 and with all the bad press, and news of exclusives such as FFXIII, GTA4, and RE5 going multiplatform, dropping the 20 gig and making an even more expensive 80 gig.... DOOMED. Sorry fanboys, flame away. It's a fact. Apparently, I'm getting a 360.
jsn @ Apr 19th 2007 12:54PM
Apart from the few SUPPOSED AAA exclusives that Sony is throwing gobs of money at to secure, they have very little to raise them to Microsoft's level. The reason is because the damned thing too hard to develop for and too hard to make money developing for.
Sony approached the market like it was 1999 all over again and it simply wasn't. Developers have learned that "we don't need to torture ourselves coding games, there is an easier way" and Sony drops a console that goes against every trend in software development around the world. You shouldn't have to devote a team to learning how to get the most out of the hardware, the tools you're given should do that for you.
That is nothing more than arrogance on their part and a complete lack of insight into what their customers (and developers) want.
Jake @ Apr 19th 2007 12:56PM
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the only good exclusive on the list. And isn't it basically an HD version of xbox's Ninja Gaiden game? I suppose they added 5% content and are calling it new.
Seriously, the PS3 is a mess right now. Other than watch movies, what the hell do you do with one? So glad I own a 360. I'll get a PS3 later probably.
Jack of No Trades @ Apr 19th 2007 12:58PM
DeceitfulNinja.....you are deceitful!
PS3 is far from failing. When a more variety of exclusives games come it will be ok. I love my PS3. It is a sexy piece of techology that I can't help but touch.
Also good luck with that Wii(my girl owns one). The only games you will see are Mario, zelda, metroid. You must be new to gaming because I grew out of those games way back in the Nintendo 64 era.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 12:59PM
UGHHHH....this is painful
looks like my $600 PS3 will (continue to) be racking up folding@home points all summer.
thank the gaming gods for Mass Effect and Forza on 360..
.
J.Goodwin @ Apr 19th 2007 1:04PM
MLB 07 is the exclusive title (Sony product under the single-platform loophole in the exclusive MLB license). Ninja Gaiden is a remake, and I guess there has been speculation that it might come to 360 as well.
Jonathan Abbey @ Apr 19th 2007 1:03PM
That PSN list is the one for the European release, not the one for North America. I'd guess the same is true in general of the other categories.
jsn: The PS3 may be harder to develop for than the 360, but it's hardly hard to develop for compared to the PS2. The PS3 has a very capable and standard graphics chip, and good library support. If Sony tanks this generation, it will be due to the expensive hardware they built, not due to the difficulty of programming for it.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:05PM
JOAT, you paid $600 to touch and look at your PS3?
.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:07PM
oops, NO Trades. sorry JONT.
umm...hello?? @ Apr 19th 2007 1:25PM
@8 and @10
agreed!! although I already have NG and NGBlack for my xbox, probably rent sigma unless it gets huge topnotch reviews....in the meantime I guess I'll *suffer* through Halo3 beta and the new Halo2 maps (if MS ever fixes their servers so I can download the friggin' maps!).
Jimmuy Bay @ Apr 19th 2007 1:12PM
Actually the only good game for 360 I'm looking for to is Forza. The others look boring. PS3's lineup is more of the same "next gen" shit that's been coming out the past year and a half.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 1:14PM
Well Jack of No Trades,
I'm a 23 year old gamer. Without a doubt, I've had a lot more to play on my Wii than you have on your PS3. You can't help but touch it... great. Too bad that's about all the fun you'll have with it for a long time. The Wii is a blast, I've had endless fun playing Super Paper Mario, WarioWare, Zelda, and to a lesser extent the other five or so games I got for it. I'm looking forward to a metric ton of titles for it, yes Metroid, Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash Bros. the three reasons I bought it. That's not it though, oh no, I'm also eagerly awaiting our version of Spidey in which you actually web swing, RE: Chronicles, and there's more I don't care to elaborate on. The fact is the Wii has sold 2-3 consoles to every PS3, and their owners are getting much more out of it than PS3 owners have gotten out of their consoles. There's a lot on the horizon that's exclusive to the Wii and every day brings more and more stories as to developers who are backing the Wii 100%. Every day also brings more and more stories of PS3 losing exclusives. Pretty soon it's going to be a 600 dollar paper weight and all you fan boys can defend that til your heart's content, but unless something drastic changes, that's a fact. I do enjoy fully watching you fan boys try and say otherwise with absolutely NO facts to back up why a PS3 is superior to 360. Oh yeah and mark my words, HD-DVD is going to own BluRay. No one wants to develop for that format, and as far as the movie industry goes, it will surpass BluRay in time.
bounchfx @ Apr 19th 2007 1:14PM
You "grew" out of those?
how can you grow out of good games?
oh, apparently now you only like shitty ones
~ps3 atm
elvisizer @ Apr 19th 2007 1:21PM
that is a very sorry PS3 list. oh well, at least it's a kick ass blu-ray player for 1/2 the price of the other blu-ray's.
Non-biter @ Apr 19th 2007 1:20PM
Jack of No trades
So have you also outgrown the Metal Gear franchise, the Final Fantasy franchise, or the Ninja Gaiden franchise too? Because if you've outgrown the Metroid and Zelda franchises then surely you have also outgrown the titles I've just listed because they were released on the NES around the same time period. Oh I get it, Sony made these exclusives cool didn't they Jack? Your so cool.
elvisizer @ Apr 19th 2007 1:26PM
jeez, deceitfulninja, you sure are frothing today. now, i can't disagree with you about the sorry slate of PS3 releases. that list DOES suck. But damn, you're waaaaay off base about HDDVD and Blu-ray. I own both a PS3 and a toshiba 1st gen HDDVD player, so i've got no reason to be pulling for one format over the other. Also, in my viewing, both formats look great. But really, the chances of HDDVD dominating the movie market are EXTREMELY slim. There's exactly ONE studio exclusively releasing movies on HDDVD- universal. every single other studio on the planet is either a blu-ray exclusive shop, or is releasing on both. So I really can't see a scenario where HDDVD wins. It may co-exist, but that's really about it. Personally, I could care less, since I already paid for both formats, but Blu-ray is holding all the cards going forward.
Delive @ Apr 19th 2007 1:29PM
@ DeceitfulNinja:
You can buy my 360, It's barely used (Halo 1 mostly) Yes there are more games on the 360, but more Sony exclusives I'm interested in. (SOCOM, R&C, GoW, HSG, Dark Cloud vs Halo, IMO).
Those exclusives will sell systems because they are known to people. There are people playing Socom: CA now with no intent on going next gen until Socom 4 is announced. So Doomed is not a work I would associate with Sony's future, not this Generation. The price will come down and people will come on board. The year head start has benefitted MS as the Lowest price for Next Gen* gaming for Nintendo. Uphill battle, YES, doomed, by far NO.
Jake @ Apr 19th 2007 1:30PM
DeceitfulNinja,
Chill man, jeez. You're getting a little excited. There is no way the Wii can totally fill my gaming needs. I have one and enjoy WiiSports and Paper Mario (sorta, though its too damn easy). But how can a Wii make me not want to go online with Gears and surround sound.
Many of my 360 games look awesome and are tons of fun. The Wii feels really childish and simple. Maybe fake hoola hooping some Wario satisfies your gaming needs, but I need something more like Gears/Forza/mass effect. Epic big budget games with awesome graphics, sound, realism, and depth. I own a Wii for the games that aren't out yet like Mario Galaxy, Metroid, and Zelda Wii. Games that will have awesome depth and last-gen graphics with new-gen controls.
Tom @ Apr 19th 2007 3:53PM
they missed "Cube" for the PSP. I'm looking forward to that one.
Jack of No Trades @ Apr 19th 2007 1:31PM
@ Non-biter, bounchfx, DeceitfulNinja, Digi Smalls
First of all, FF changes story and character with each game. Second, MGS, Ninja Gaiden have not been played out like Mario,Zelda.
Also I grew out of playing Mario because once you play something for so long it gets old. PS3/360 have better quality games that Wii. Yes it is a $600 paperweight right now but in a year the games will be much more filling then anything you can find on Wii.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 1:35PM

Don't misunderstand me. I loved Socom, and I sort of would like PS3 to succeed, this isn't a fanboy rant. I love me some god of war and such but those titles you just listed aren't even on the horizon...
Jake
You must have missed my first post. I'm not here to be Wii fanboy. I love me next gen graphics, and I already said I was waiting for 360 or PS3 to show whose superior... and it seems like 360 hands down. you can expect to see me on xbox live at a near future date, buddy.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:35PM
aw crap, let's not bring HD movie formats into this.
ninja, you were doing just fine when you kept it about games, but most likely blu-ray will win the HD movie format war. it's obvious Sony chose movies over games on their corporate agenda and thats what they're putting their muscle behind. it's the reason they are currently in this sticky console position and the reason this release list is so pathetically limp.
I truly hate Sony for even making this an issue for gamers.
.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 1:40PM
Yeah, Digi. I might have been off base with my hddvd vs bluray format comment guys. I take that back. Everything else I stand by. Especially the fact it shouldn't be about the format of the movie player as you said Digi. Sony just really has lost site of gaming is about, and IMO Nintendo and Microsoft are right on base.

Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:43PM
i bought my PS3 for those same great Sony games everyone here has mentioned, but it's obvious Sony Corporate hasn't given their studios the support they need to get them out in any reasonable amount of time.
jack, unless you're a huge HD movie collector, you should be mad that by the time those 1st party games do come out, rumble comes back and the Playstation again becomes a great game machine (2008).... it will also be considerably cheaper.
.
Chris @ Apr 19th 2007 1:45PM
@ Delive
SOCOM, R&C, GoW, HSG, Dark Cloud
vs
Halo 3, Gears of war 2, Fable 2, Star wars battlefront 3, Halo wars, Halo project, dead rising 2
(same of these are TBA)
But I think some of these games will have better sales then most of those titles.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:47PM
i don't know JodyAnthony, this thread is almost dangerously close to becoming a consensus (!!!).
whatever side you fall on the console race, i think we can all agree this release list is pretty awful.
.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 1:47PM
That's right Digi, Sony execs JUST made a press release stating they are right now working on repricing the PS3. Already. Right after launch. By the holidays you can probably expect at least 100 dollar price drop, guys. I'd be pretty ticked if I ran to buy that system at launch. Not to mention I had TWO ps2's die on me. I'm not ready to have that happen on a 600 dollar console. I told myself I'd never buy another sony system at launch after what happened to my first 2 ps2s.
Jake @ Apr 19th 2007 1:47PM
Deceitfulninja, it's on!
And I did see your first post, but your next one was pretty hardcore Wii ftw. And the PS3 isn't that bad and will be close to as good for gaming in a year or two. My disappointment with the PS3 is it seems about the same for gaming, only you had to wait an extra year to get games that are already old news.
Avinash_Tyagi @ Apr 19th 2007 1:48PM
Wow and people make fun of the Wii library, that PS3 list looks pathetic, well at least you have that HD graphics for transformers :P

Thanks for responding with professional standards rather than reacting like the average joe-neckbone gamer. I agree with you on the state of the Wii console as far as the graphics not being up to par with 360/PS3. I wish the big N had matched the power of the 360/PS3 to match they're innovative (but not properly taken advantage of by 3rd parties yet) Motion controls for the Wii console. Trust me if the Wii had state of the art graphics to match it's motion contols with the Wiimote and Nunchuck combo I think the hardcore would've shit there pants had Nintendo implemented great graphics with great motion controls. I can just imagine what the next Zelda,Metroid, or Kid Icarus would've have looked and played like had Nintendo backed it's innovatio with state of the art graphics. That's how I feel about it but I hope Nintendo's next system will make my dreams come true so that casual and hardcore alike would be given the best of both worlds!
tavaris @ Apr 19th 2007 1:50PM

Digi Smalls
Yea im pissed at Sony. I love my 360 to death but the PS3 holds a special place in my heart. I love its nice round firm technological ass.
Geoff Gibson @ Apr 19th 2007 1:53PM
Jack of No Trades is a clear and simple PS3 Fanboy.
Sony can do no wrong by him. Any normal person will look at that list of PS3 games compare them to equal Wii and 360 Q2 game lists and laugh at it. Even if they don't prefer any of the games on the Wii or 360 lists you'd still have to accept that Sony's list is downright abysmal.
MLB The Show is not an exclusive. I'm sorry guys but I can go pick up a baseball game on the 360 right now and heres the shocker, I'll be playing the same game as anybody playing the PS3 "exclusive".
Ninja Gaiden is a different story, I have heard its not a true seqeul and thats its just an updated version of NJ Black, in which case I can go buy that for $10 on Gamestop right now.
Every other game is multi-platform. Wow. Simply wow.
Also its a bit sad that Sony's "IT" games, the "must haves" are not first party games. Final Fantasy XIII and MGS4 are not owned by Sony. Sony can't even make its own "IT" games for its own system. They only have God of War which comes a distant third in comparison to the previous two in terms of popularity. Both Nintendo and Microsoft own and make all of their system's must have games which fully secures themselves desperate exclusivity rights.
Just something to think about.
DeceitfulNinja @ Apr 19th 2007 1:55PM
Jake =P
My point is Sony messed up. Now if there's a price drop coming soon, all the people who bought it at launch are gonna be pissed. They spent extra money on a system that has nothing to offer 360 doesn't do better, AND spent more for it.
360 -
unrivaled online
hd graphics
great library
great price
OPTIONAL hddvd add-on (sony could of learned from that)
There now I'm a 360 fanboy. I don't even own one yet. Yeah, I love my Wii, I just can't help but defend it when some silly PS3 fanboy who, cmon let's admit it, as of now owns the most inferior system, wants to slander it. It's innovative and FUN AS HELL. That's what games are meant to be. Fun.
Digi Smalls @ Apr 19th 2007 1:56PM
jack - yeah now imagine if you ONLY had a PS3. scary thought huh? then again so was your analogy..
.
jc @ Apr 19th 2007 1:57PM
The big news here is that NCAA 08 isn't on the list for PS3. That's a pretty huge game for playstation fans and the Xbox 360 will be the only next gen platform with it.
I have both the 360 and PS2 versions of NCAA 07 and besides the more features on the PS2, I can't stand the graphics.
Jack of No Trades @ Apr 19th 2007 1:57PM

Sony has plenty of games to fall back on in the future. I have 360, PS3 and my girl has a Wii. Im not a fanboy. I love technology with power and features. The same way I love a car with alot of HP.
The Wii is fun to play with your girlfriend but if you want to game alone and relax the 360/PS3 is cleary the choice.

SuperNES sucks. Clearly it's all about the Watara Supervision.
Geoff Gibson @ Apr 19th 2007 2:03PM
I am not talking about the future Jack, nor did I mention anything about the PS3 failing. I am sure they will have some good first party games. But nothing compared to the first party games Nintendo and Microsoft release. It has always been like that.
Bottom line, Sony is giving us PS3 owners jackshit for the next 2 1/2 months and I for one am downright pissed off.
I did not buy a PS3 with the promise of being able to play 360 ports, I have a 360 for that. They need to get their heads out of their asses and make some games, Resistance was not enough.
As for the Wii. I love it. I would trade both of my other systems if I had to in order to keep it. Whenever people are over at my place we all play at least a few games of Wii Sports followed by some snowbaording or Sonic. And my girlfriend loves it. Even then when I just feel like playing a video game I don't immediately head to my other systems, it all depends on what I am in the mood for.
